Read More EDF Energy has committed to reduce the carbon intensity of its electricity generation, by 60 per cent by 2020. Based on its current generation fleet, that represents a reduction of around 12 million tonnes annually by 2020. ‘Most in need’ customers through our Energy Assist tariff. EDF Energy’s most vulnerable customers – including those on prepayment meters - are making a total annual saving of up to £159 on dual fuel from the company’s standard rate. Npower customers will be paying on average £70 more for gas and £43 pounds more for electricity following this price rise. The storage unit will be constructed in Hemsby, Norfolk, and connected to the electricity network into a form in which it can be saved in high performance batteries. These batteries can be charged and discharged many times over and kept in reserve for times of need, such as when a fault occurs on the network. Despite soaring wholesale energy prices, higher distribution costs and increased environmental obligations, EDF Energy recently announced an increase in its gas and electricity prices.
