There is no cancellation fee or penalty should the customer want to come off this product at a later date. A typical dual fuel customer on a standard tariff consumes 3,300 Kilowatt hours a year of electricity and 20,500 Kilowatt hours of gas a year. The storage unit will be constructed in Hemsby, Norfolk, and connected to the electricity network into a form in which it can be saved in high performance batteries. These batteries can be charged and discharged many times over and kept in reserve for times of need, such as when a fault occurs on the network. Judges at the Energy Innovation Awards have selected the companys idea for energy storage as a finalist, in the annual competition staged by the East of England Energy Group. EDF Energy continues to lead the way through some pioneering initiatives: FIRST to introduce a special tariff for most in need customers, FIRST to align prepayment and standard credit electricity prices, FIRST to enable prepayment customers to take fixed price tariffs, FIRST to establish a Trust Fund for those in debt, FIRST to reward customers for saving energy through Read, Reduce, Reward - to actively encourage and reward customers who submit their own meter readings, monitor and reduce their consumption and cut bills.
