First, the wholesale price of energy has doubled over the last year. Second, the distribution costs of transporting and metering energy from power stations and gas fields to homes and businesses has also risen. This increase is about £4 pa for an electricity customer and around £32 pa for a gas customer. Finally, the costs of meeting our environmental obligations including a major expansion of the Government’s energy efficiency scheme which we fully support. EDF Energy’s Fixed Price 2010 tariff is not available in the Northern, Yorkshire and Southern regions. The prepayment offer for this tariff only applies to electricity customers in London, the South East and the East of England. They supply gas and electricity prices. Eva Eisenschimmel, EDF Energy Chief Operating Officer Customers Branch, said: “We regret any decision to raise our prices.
