Judges at the Energy Innovation Awards have selected the company’s idea for energy storage as a finalist, in the annual competition staged by the East of England Energy Group. Eva Eisenschimmel, EDF Energy Chief Operating Officer Customers Branch, said: “We regret any decision to raise our prices. Despite soaring wholesale energy prices, higher distribution costs and increased environmental obligations, EDF Energy recently announced an increase in its gas and electricity prices. A pioneering idea to store electricity, has led to EDF Energy Networks to spend a proportion of its regulated funds on research and development. It aims to help cut the amount of carbon produced by the UK power industry, by boosting renewable energy production.
