Read More The project will use light technology developed by engineering company ABB, to convert energy from the electricity network into a form in which it can be saved in high performance batteries. These batteries can be charged and discharged many times over and kept in reserve for times of need, such as when a fault occurs on the network. In response to the soaring cost of wholesale energy, higher distribution costs and increased environmental obligations, EDF Energy recently announced an increase in its gas and electricity to over 5 million customers and generate about 5GW of energy from their coal and gas power stations, as well as combined heat and power plants and wind farms. The company is also a key player in national infrastructure projects including management of private electricity networks serving four London airports and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the country’s first major new railway in 100 years. ‘Most in need’ customers through our Energy Assist tariff. EDF Energy’s most vulnerable customers – including those on prepayment meters - are making a total annual saving of up to £159 on dual fuel from the company’s standard rate. The Fixed Price 2010 tariff is not available in the Northern, Yorkshire and Southern regions.
