EDF Energy is one of the UK’s population via electricity distribution networks in London, the South East and the South West. 55,000 of EDF Energy’s ‘most in need’ customers through our Energy Assist tariff. EDF Energy’s most vulnerable customers – including those on prepayment meters - are making a total annual saving of up to £159 on dual fuel from the company’s standard rate. Judges at the Energy Innovation Awards have selected the company’s idea for energy storage as a finalist, in the annual competition staged by the East of England Energy Group. The technology is due to be in place by the end of 2009 and if the trial is successful the results will be shared with other distribution network operators. EDF Energy Networks planning engineer Allan Boardman, who is based at the company’s offices at Barton Road in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, said: “I am delighted to learn that our submission has been chosen as a finalist. In response to the soaring cost of wholesale energy, higher distribution costs and increased environmental obligations, we have been able to substantially limit the impact on our customers.
